Who Am I?

(Woah, this is getting serious).

As A Proffesional.

a Singer.

Anyone can sing; it is natural to us, for we all have an instrument, just waiting to be tuned.
I took my first vocal lesson in elementary school and immediately fell in love. I sang everywhere and to anyone who would listen. In high school, I joined show choir, and then an a cappella group in college. After graduating, I sang for a rock band. I have continued my training throughout my life and have relished in the different seasons each teacher has brought with them.
When done right, singing is an act of connection from head to toe. It is an act of letting go, of releasing tension, of balance. Though I have been trained in classical voice, I find that I have the most fun with more alternative styles.
Whether it be contemporary musical theatre, classic rock, or experimental funk-pop, singing is my favorite story-telling tool.

an Actor.

Acting is an exercise in living, one in which I learn the truth of myself through the act of embodying another.
I began my formal acting training at the University of Southern California, where I took classes through their Musical Theatre minor. Since then, I have continued my education through The Juilliard School's extension program and workshops via The Growing Studio.
Time and time again, I find that my greatest discoveries as an actor come hand-in-hand with my experiences as a person. Life has been an excellent teacher in what it means to be human, and how we can explore those themes on stage.
While I feel comfortable performing roles of any gender, my passion lies with challenging gender norms and considering how theatre allows us to question—and then learn—about the ways society shapes our understanding of identity.

a Writer.

In the written word, I find peace and clarity—the chance to uncover the Worlds that already exist within myself.
When I first started writing, it was entirely personal. My poems and songs were private journal entries in which I processed the events of my life. Then, upon completing my undergraduate studies, I worked at Disneyland as a character performer. There, I had the opportunity to go back to school via their Aspire program. I chose to pursue a Master’s in creative writing and poetry at the University of Denver. The experience was transformative and has allowed me to fine-tune my once entirely private craft. I write poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. In addition, I wrote lyrics for all of the originals of my previous band, Sunshine and the Deep Jams.
I find that my understanding of poetry elevates my work as a singer and actor.

As a person.

A Life-long Student.

I love school. I love learning. I majored in computer science and linguistics and minored in Musical theatre at the University of Southern California. I also have a master’s in creative writing and poetry. I would go back to school today if I could. There is just so much to learn!

A (Novice) OutdoorsMan.

Raised in Southern California, I have always loved the outdoors. With its weather, beaches, and incredible national parks, how could you not? Several years ago, I went backpacking for the first time, and my life has never been the same. My favorite trip has definitely been backpacking the entirety of Catalina Island. We saw buffalo and ate chili and fell asleep to the sound of waves. It was perfect.

A Really crazy cat parent.

I have the most amazing cat, Poppy. In college, I thought it might be fun to foster an animal. Poppy came to me through a local cat rescue, and I just couldn’t let her go. She loves cat gogurts, cuddles, and quiet.

A book worm.

I am often lost in a book. Everything from poetry collections to fantasy to sci-fi to classics—I’m in. My partner and I are actually writing a fantasy trilogy! Yes, I know! It sounds crazy, but we’ve discovered a world in which life itself is a force of magic, one filled with people that we love, and we can’t wait to share it one day.

A lover of thrift stores.

I think clothes are an opportunity to tell a story that someone can read in an instant. My favorite pastime is perusing a thrift store or flea market in search of a treasure.

A yes-man.

I’ve always been pretty competitive, and I think that used to limit my ability to try new things. But these days, I want to do it all. You want to play basketball? I’ve just watched the Michael Jordan documentary, and I am ready to go. You like DnD? Heck yes. I’ve just found the perfect character art. Painting? Why don’t we watch Bob Ross and see what we can make? I am learning to see the value in doing for the sake of doing, and not being perfect, and that has filled my life with a lot of joy.
